Tea with the King

Make a tea magnet with this poem and Ps. 45:13 " The daughter of the King is beautiful inside. Include with ribbon a tea bag.

This simple bag of tea serves as a reminder for you and me to earnestly pray on bended knee.
His plan, it's true we can not see, by faith in our hearts we will believe.
His presence is with us on our journey, His plan and purpose is our destiny.
The Lord uses his daughters and all they can be to help change lives for all eternity.
One day we can rest so peacefully with eyes fixed toward the heavenlies, we'll sit with the Father and have some tea.

How to make ice tea

Ice Tea

A frefreshing and tasting, healthy glass of iced tea is best with whole, loose leaf tea leaves. With loose tea leaves you will have a full body and flavor that you will not want to miss.  Using tea bags produce a lower quality of tea.
Making homemade iced tea is similiar to hot tea but some differences.
Here is how to make some awesome ice tea.
Use twice the amount of loose tea used in your brew (as compared to hot tea). If you prefer sweet iced tea, add rock sugar while steeping instead of white sugar to finished tea.  The rock sugar will enhance the natural sweetness of your iced tea and dissolve better in hot water.   Also, if you use flavored tea sugar may not be needed.
After the hot tea is brewed,  pour it into a glass filled almost to the top with ice. The sudden cooling keeps the flavor and scent of the tea intact. Finish it off with a slice of lemon or sprig of mint for the perfect glass of cool, refreshing iced tea.
Rooibos tea, black teas and herbal teas are great over ice. Iced green teas can be delicious  provided you choose a flavored or scented green tea that you enjoy. Mixing two or three teas together will get you a unique iced tea brew that is often better than any single tea. So try something new!

Devotion for today

I am taking care of you.  Trust Me at all times.  Trust me in all circumstances.  Trust Me with all your heart.  When you are weary and everything seems to be going wrong, you can still utter these four words; " I trust You, Jesus." By doing so, you release matters into My control, and you fall back into the security of My everlasting arms.
Before you arise from your bed in the morning, I have already arranged the events of your day.  Every day provides many opportunities for you to learn My ways and grow closer to Me.  Signs of My Presence brighten even the dullest day when you have eyes that really see.  Search for Me as for hidden treasure.  I will be found by you.

Rooibos tea

If you suffer from seasonal allergies, try Rooibos tea. Rooibos, sometimes called “red tea,” comes from a bush in South Africa. Rooibos is a delicious herbal tea full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. More importantly, it also contains two bioflavonoids—Rutin and Quercetin—that can be almost magical for allergy sufferers.

Bioflavonoids and Allergies

Bioflavonoids, Rutin and Quercetin, interfere with your body’s histamine which causes the stuffiness and stomach issues associated with allergies. If you suffer from food allergies and/or the more traditional respiratory allergies, consuming these particular bioflavonoids can help reduce inflammation and allergy symptoms. Rooibos teas provide a natural source of these bioflavonoids. Rooibos teas are also caffeine-free.  Drink them morning right up to bedtime to assist with relief from a stuffy, runny nose or even stomach nausea.

Iced Rooibos tea

For one cup of iced Rooibos tea

1 tsp. of loose Rooibos Tea
Boiling water
Pour boiling water over loose tea and steep for about 5 - 7 minutes.  Cool and then pour over ice cubes.
You can add a bit of sugar or lemon if you'd like but most Rooibos teas have flavor.  I tried this with our Tealightful Treasures Green Rooibos Peach and it was yummy!  Enjoy!

Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea, also known as bush tea or redbush tea, is grown in South Africa. The tea gets its reddish color from the process of its leaves being chopped and then left out to sun dry to oxidize and improve flavor. It is delicious served with milk and sugar, but can also be enjoyed plain for its sweet and nutty-like flavor. It has become quite popular in recent years and can be served hot or cold. There are many health benefits of drinking rooibos tea.
Rich in Antioxidants

Rooibos tea is rich in antioxidants. According to Chris Casson in the May 2004 issue of Tea Muse, rooibos has many flavinoids, which are free-radical fighting antioxidants. These help to protect the body against cell damage and prevent serious disease such as heart disease and some types of cancer.

Caffeine Free

Unlike many other teas, this one is naturally caffeine free. People can drink the tea before bed and not have their sleep disrupted. It is safe for children and women who are pregnant.

Low Acid Content

This tea is less acidic than other teas, due to its low tannin levels, which makes it easier to drink for people with acid reflux disease.

Healthy Bones

According to Psychology Today (March 2001), rooibos is high in polyphenols, which are associated with maintaining a higher bone density and preventing arthritis.

Allergy Fighter

Rooibos has been found to help pacify allergies and calm an uneasy stomach because of its anti-spasmodic components.

Good for Skin

Rooibos can be used topically to treat skin problems such as eczema. According to Africantea.com it is high in minerals such as potassium, calcium, fluoride and zinc.

Tea time with God

One of the biggest complaints we have these days is more communication with machines than people. Do you have to be rich to bring a ray of sunshine into someone's life?
Not at all. Sometimes money is involved in making a meaningful change, but it's the person who signs the check and his desire to do something good that is behind it.
No matter how much or how little we have, we can do something to make someone else's path a little smoother.
Matt. 5:16. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.
Enjoy your cup of tea and His word today. Make someone else's path brighter today.

She Speaks conference 2011 and scholarships

I would like to be one of the lucky ones to win a scholarship for the She Speaks conference 2011. It is for women who need renewed vision, great training, meaningful connections and intentional networking with other women's ministry leaders from across the country. It would be great to network with other women and also would help me with my tea ministry.

My day today

It was a wonderful day today and thank you all for your prayers as I traveled to Milaca today for a tea at two assisted living homes.  I met some wonderful people there.  Each time I am a bit nervous before going but God always lets me know it will be ok and I am doing work for Him  It was a great day.  God brought some rain but only during the time I was sharing tea.  I was able to get items into the building before rain started and it stopped when I put items back into the truck. God you are an awesome God!
This was my message for today  from my friend calendar that I read when I got home.  God had a message for me today and wonderful timing.  God knows when we need those times to hear from Him.
One of the most important responsibilities in the Christian life is to care about other people- to smile at them and to be a friend of the friendless. God wants to use you to help his other children. Dr. James Dobson
Ps. 90:17 Let the Lord our God favor us and give us success. May he give permanence to all we do.

What an awesome God we serve.  The people I met today enjoyed  the tea and the baskets my friends help me assemble for the winners of Tea Bingo.  Thank you all for helping with this.  What a provider our God is if we trust, obey and have faith.

Blessings, be in His word and drink a cup of tea!

Tea and college

Tea in College

by Kate Lynch

A healthy choice for college students

College "comfort food"My name is Kate, and for the last three years, I have been a college student. I remain so today, and as I continue to pursue higher education, one thing has become clear to me. No, not that it is possible to survive indefinitely on granola bars and Chinese takeout (it's not), or that the best writing really happens at 2:00AM the morning that a final paper is due (it doesn't). What I have discovered is simply this; tea is really a perfect fixture in the life of a college student.
Think about it. Tea has caffeine in it. Sure, it has less than coffee, but it does have enough of the required substance to fuel a college student through a final exam without causing 'caffeine jitters' during the essay portion. There are also plenty of decaffeinated varieties of tea, such as chamomile and rooibos, great for winding down after a long day of classes. I myself couldn't go to sleep without a cup of Foxtrot, a subtle, soothing mix of peppermint and chamomile tea. Sleeping on a plastic mattress, in a tiny dorm with thin walls that shake with the sound of my neighbor's bass, a cup of this wonderful tea is certainly a nice, nurturing element to my evening.

Tea has no calories, a blessing for those who spend all four years trying to avoid 'the freshman fifteen' and the large amount of empty calories that are quickly ingested with many sodas, sugary fruit juices, energy drinks, and coffee with fixings. Tea also does not have harmful chemicals or unsavory preservatives, making it good and good for you.
Which brings me to the subject of taste. Different varieties of tea have very different tastes. Some are very mild, like many white teas and some varieties of young greens. Others have a nutty or smoky taste, like the (in)famous Lapsang Souchong, or the less-harsh but still classy oolongs. There is the sweet and fruity taste that many herbal teas have, great for satisfying a sweet tooth while avoiding unhealthy snacks. I personally turn to Adagio's Fruit Medley for a dessert treat. And of course, there are all of the black varieties, the Ceylon teas. Classic and reliable, this is the sort of beverage you can drink in the morning to wake up or at dinner to get you through an evening of homework, but still allow you to get a naturally good night's sleep a couple of hours later.

It also helps that tea is more involved and hands-on than many other beverages. Even a teabag nabbed from the cafeteria and steeped in a Styrofoam cup is still something that you do yourself. Many of my friends told me during the course of my research for this article that they preferred making their own tea in their rooms to grabbing a cup of burned coffee that's been sitting in its urn in the cafeteria for hours. At least with tea you make yourself, they reasoned, you have a lot more control over the beverage, and it's definitely fresh when you drink it.

That being said, tea gets something of an odd rap in college. For many students, coffee is considered a vital bodily fluid. However, this often has nothing to do with taste. I have witnessed friends who gag at the smell of 'coffee breath' chug a 40 oz. thermos to get through an exam. In these situations, coffee is ingested purely as a source of caffeine. While tea can help in this area, the fact that it has less caffeine means that it is consumed more for its other attributes, such as taste, health benefits, and enjoyment.

Many of the students I discussed this subject with also explained to me that tea has earned a reputation for being relaxing, something you curl up with on a rainy afternoon or after a tough day of schoolwork. It is also one of the only things that can make you feel better when you get that first inevitable cold at school. Tea is warm and soothing on a sore throat, acts as a fluid to break down nasal congestion, and works as an overall source of comfort when you're under the weather and far from home. A student might start the day at a frantic pace, guzzling coffee to make it through morning classes, but she will end the day with a soothing cup of Green Pekoe as she reviews her completed assignments. Tea may never be treated as the solution to a night of cramming, but it will always be considered the icon of rest and rejuvenation, something that all college students need as much of as they can get during their fast-paced, exciting college educations.

Introduce your kids to a great tea time treat!

Introduce your kids to the fun of tea-time. Take a fruit or herb tea and make them into popsicle treats. Brew, add a touch of sugar and freeze into molds. You have vitamin filled treats and without the caffeine!

Tea talk

DID YOU KNOW?

According to Winston Churchill in 1942, tea was more important for his soldiers than ammunition during WWII.

There are 7 secrets to follow when preparing the Japanese Tea Ceremony.

Make enjoyable tea.

Boil water well.

Arrange flowers suitably.

Keep the tearoom cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Be ahead of time.

Have an umbrella.

Attune your hearts. (Have an umbrella??)

“Tea is nought but this;

first you heat the water,

then you make the tea.

Then you drink it properly.

That is all you need to know.”

Sen Rikyu (1522-1591)

Another idea

As I was sitting in church today God put before me another idea.  How about Traveling Tea with Jesus shares tea at colleges along with the Gospel? Pray for me as not sure if this is what God wants.  I am sharing tea with assisted living homes, individual homes, community centers but love to share tea with the younger generation too.  Thanks for your prayers!
Brew the Perfect Cup of Tea

For many tea drinkers, making a pot of tea is practically a religious experience.
What's in there?
Tea contains no fat or protein and almost no carbs. It does have a decent amount of caffeine and loads of healthful antioxidant flavonoids, plus fluoride. Green teas have more antioxidants than black. Infused herbal teas might not have any antioxidants at all.

For these people, placing a bag in a bowl and dousing it with boiling water doesn't get the job done. Check out our quick tips for brewing the perfect pot!
Loose Leaf

Until the middle of the 20th century, there were no tiny cloth bags of individually parceled tea. For thousands of years, the leaves and buds were either placed in a tea pot or were held in a tea infuser (a tea ball, for example). For most tea-making perfectionists, there is no comparison: it is loose-leaf tea or nothing.
TIP: In a pinch, a French press coffeemaker approximates the infused-tea experience.

How much loose tea is enough? A common rule of thumb is one teaspoon of leaves for each cup of water plus "one for the teapot." Of course, the outcome will be determined by how strong the tea leaves are and by how much hot water the tea is steeping in. Experimentation is in order.

Water temperature. The temperature of the water matters, too. Most black teas do best in boiling water. Green and white teas prefer hot, but not boiling, water. It all comes down to how oxidized the leaves are: black teas are more oxidized and can handle the hot, hot heat.
TIP: Some tea drinkers insist on warming up the teapot before pouring in the hot or boiling water.
How long to steep? Allow black tea to brew anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. Two to 3 minutes is preferred for a bracing tea. But too much steeping can produce a mouth-puckeringly bitter brew.

Steeping vessels. There is much ceremony associated with tea drinking. And pretty teapots are part of the enjoyment. Some are extremely elegant with delicately painted patterns. For steeping, though, many tea drinkers prefer simple, unglazed earthenware teapots. After steeping, it’s time for the beautiful porcelain teapots.

Tea making don'ts. Don't stir the loose leaves around in the pot. This is called "winding." And it's a no-no. It won't speed up the steeping process, but it probably will release bitter-flavored tannins. Wringing the last drop of tea from the teabag produces the same effect.

The Three Types of Tea

Tea is the processed leaves (along with twigs and buds) of the tea plant Camellia sinensis, a bush native to warm, rainy climates. Processing freshly harvested tea leaves begins the same for all types of tea. Fresh leaves are sorted out, cleaned, and allowed to wither. From there, a few nuances come into play.

Black--English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Darjeeling, Assam
The most common kind of tea, black tea leaves are allowed to ferment before being dried. Westerners call it "black tea" because of the dark color of the leaves. The Chinese know it as "red tea" because of the reddish color of the liquid. Black tea tends to have depth of flavor and lack bitterness.

•Most teas from India (Darjeeling, Assam) are black.

•Earl Grey is black tea scented with bergamot.
Green--Gunpowder, Tencha

From the same plant as black tea leaves, green tea leaves are steamed and dried directly after being picked to prevent fermentation, which develops a light, gently bitter flavor much like the fresh leaves themselves. Japan is a leading producer of green tea.

Oolong--Formosa Oolong

Partially fermented large-leaf tea, oolong tea is delicate in flavor, occasionally scented with rose petals, jasmine, or gardenia. Formosa, Taiwan, is an important producer of oolong tea.

Enjoy your cup or two of tea today

Teas and meats

Green teas and oolong teas go well with white meats, black teas pair nicely with red meat.

Tea Time with God

Tea for at Least Two from the book Tea Time with God.
Ps 23:2-3  He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.
The brief respite known as afternoon tea is said to have been the creation of Anna, Duchess of Bedford, in the nineteenth century.  At that time the English customarily ate a hearty breakfast, paused for a light lunch at midday, and didn't return to the table until late evening.  Understandably hungry long before dinner, the duchess asked to have a small meal served in her private quarters in the late afternoon.  Eventually, she invited close friends to share the repast.  The sensible custom was quickly adopted throughout England.
While the duchess' initiation of tea time was aimed at nourishment of her body, she and the rest of England soon discovered that adding beautiful china and good friends to the occasion also nourished the soul.  In fact, the real value of formal tea time lies in its ability to enrich and brighten the everyday routine by stressing the importance of courtesy and friendship.
We are wise to recognize our need for a "spiritual tea time" each day.  Even if we have a "hearty breakfast" in the Word each morning, there may be times when the pressures of the day come to bear in late afternoon.  Our spirits long for a little peace and refreshment in the presence of our loving Savior.  Just as enjoying a muffin with a few sips of tea can give something of a lift to our lagging physical energy level, a quick prayer or the voicing of praise can give our spirit a lift.
set aside some time in the middle of the afternoon to turn your attention to the beauty of life that the Lord has set before you.  Find beauty and comfort in the people around you, the flowers on a table, or simply the delicious aroma of tea brewing.  Create a few moments away from the hustle and bustle of your life before returning to the tasks that await you.  Give thanks to the Lord for sharing His presence with you.

Tea and His Word today

As I sat this morning having my tea and  rereading the book by Susie Larson The Uncommon Woman I realized again how blessed I am to know my Lord and Savior.  He has showed me so much .  F rom the reading today Susie Larson writes in her book from the chapter ,Wisely picks her battles, that "The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray"  Prov. 12:26.  I Sam. 15:24 Saul gives the reason for his disobedience. Is.8:13 Ponder the cost of fearing man versus fearing God.  Describe a battle or conflict you were tripped up by because you feared the wrong thing.
Susie writes at end of chapter the Declaration:   I have discernment in how I relate to others, and I wisely walk away from the battles God has not called me to fight.  I will not be bound or manipulated by others' opinions of me. Even when good people think I am bad, I will put my trust in Him.
God bless your day sipping your tea and being in His word.  Thank you for being part of Traveling Tea with Jesus!

Beau-Tea Party

From Family Circle 2/11

The hot way to look younger is red tea, a powerful antioxidant now available in all sorts of good-for-skin products.  Science has proven red tea's flavonoids to be 3%$ more effective at neutralizing free radicals than its better-known green cousin.  The flavonoids help reduce those tell-tale signs of aging.

My morning

As I sat drinking my tea God had been nudging me for a while to be bold and make a call to the university our son attends to let them know of a concern I had while touring there a few weeks ago.  Well, as I have been praying God has been working on our behalf.  He was working on making some changes at the university and I am so ever thankful for His goodness and His timing.  I am grateful for the university deans to be bold and make changes and feel necessary.  It made me make a call to our son to let him know what I had done and to let him know I am praying for him and for the students there.  It was just another wonderful opportunity to talk to my son about issues and to remind him to follow God and be strong.  Thank you God for giving me this opportunity and giving Him all the glory and praise for answer to prayer.  Still praying for our universities and for our world to know Jesus and have a relationship with Him.
Enjoy your tea and His word.  I pray He will be there with you as you go about your day.  I pray that you will feel His presence.  Blessings!

Tea Basket Assembly

It was an eventful day as my friend and I  assembled some tea baskets today for the tea event next week in Milica, Minnesota.  I give out tea baskets to winners of Tea Bingo at my tea events.  The tea basket ministry started about a 1 1/2 years ago and there are about 6 women involved at times.  The residents at the assisted living homes get very excited to receive these baskets when they win at Tea Bingo.  The last tea event in Texas it was quite the talk after the tea event.  The residents were all talking and sharing their tea baskets they had won.  It was great to hear.  This is always a blessing to me to see the excitement in others as they receive a tea basket.  I am blessed to have others willing to take some time out of their week or day to put some baskets together along with sharing some items to put in the baskets.
I thank each of my friends for sharing and giving to these tea events.  It was a blessed day and look forward to the two teas next Tuesday in Milica.  Please pray for safety as I travel next Tuesday to Milica and that the women will enjoy the teas along with a devotion and Tea Bingo.  I pray that each one will learn something that day about tea and about our Lord.  I thank God for this opportunity and for the baskets He provided us with today.
Enjoy your cup of tea and be in His word!

Green tea for eyes?

Green Tea: The Eyes Have It

Eyes Can Absorb Antioxidants From Green Tea, Which May Have a Protective Effect, Researchers Say

By Jennifer Warner

WebMD Health NewsReviewed by Louise Chang, MDFeb. 18, 2010 -- Researchers say the compounds responsible for many of the health benefits of green tea are capable of penetrating the tissues of the eyes and have antioxidant activity there.
Green tea has been touted for a number of health benefits, such as fighting heart disease and cancer, thanks to its high concentration of disease-fighting antioxidants called catechins.
Researchers say catechins are among a number of antioxidants, including vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein, and zeaxanthin, thought to help protect the delicate tissues of the eye from glaucoma and other eye diseases. But until now it wasn't known if the catechins in green tea were capable of being absorbed into the tissues of the eye.

Another Health Benefit of Green Tea

In the study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, researchers fed laboratory rats green tea extract and then analyzed their eye tissues.

The results showed that different parts of the eye absorbed varying amounts of catechins. The area with the highest concentration of catechins was the retina, which is the light-sensing tissue that lines the back of the eye. The area with the least absorption of catechins was the cornea, which is the clear, outer layer of the eye.

The study also showed that a measure of antioxidant activity lasted for up to 20 hours after the drinking green tea extract.

Researcher Kai On Chu of the department of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and colleagues say that their findings suggest that drinking green tea could be protective of the eyes. Further studies, however, will be needed to confirm a protective effect in humans.

As I have been doing teas for assisted living homes and working with elderly God has put before me to enjoy life, don't take things too seriously and I will be there for you.  As I helped an elderly woman this week for a company I got a lead for a tea at an assisted living.  I also learned that this couple that I am working with traveled to China, enjoys tea and enjoyed life.  I was blessed to have helped this woman this week.  God showed me many things.
Drink a cup or two of tea today and live His Word and truth.  Many blessings!

National Peanut Butter Lover's Day and tea

It is "National Peanut Butter Lover's Day", and any tea would go great with peanut butter sandwiches.

My preference however would be the "rooibos chai".
Tealightful Treasures has a wonderful Rooibos Chai- #T2083  No caffeine is Rooibos tea.
