Watermelon Iced Tea

6  tsp black tea leaves preferably Ceylon
3 cups boiling water
3 cups ice
1/6 or 1/4 watermelon cut into cubes
2 tbls lemon juice
1 tbls sugar
1 sprig of mint, plus a few extra for garnish if desired

Combine tea leaves and boiling water in a teapot
Let steep for 3-5 minutes
Strain the tea leaves
Set the tea aside in the fridge or freezer
Combine all ingredients but the tea in a blender. Blend until smooth using the "blend" setting. It should take about 30 seconds. As needed, stop blending to push the ingredients toward the blades with a spoon.

Once the mixture is smooth, you can proceed to  add the tea or cover the mixture until shortly before you plan to serve Watermelon Iced Tea. (Combining the watermelon mixture and the tea just before serving prevents the drink from separating
When you're almost ready to serve Watermelon Iced Tea, pour the brewed black tea over a pitcher of ice. Most of the ice will melt, but you've brewed the tea extra strong to accommodate for this dilution.
Just before serving Watermelon Iced Tea, combine all ingredients in a large glass pitcher. Stir well. If the drink begins to separate into layers (as is natural for agua fresca-style drinks), simply stir it again.

Keeping Iced Tea Clear

If you end up having a cloudy looking iced tea try letting the tea cool gradually, add lemon juice to your tea or add a splash of hot water.

My Heart Is Never Old

Just a bit from my devotion today and then I need to grab a cup of tea!

In short, I'd like to live forever. And I will- not on this earth, of course, but in heaven.  Until then, I want to be looking for new possibilities, trying new things, and enjoying new friends, ideas and accomplishments. No matter how many years I live on the earth, my heart will never be old. Written by Luci Swindoll ( Life!Celebrate it!)

Tea in June

Tea Drinkers saying- To stir the tea in the pot counterclockwise will stir up trouble.
Elevenses is a late-morning snack of tea and pastry, much like a coffee break.

Hosting your own tea party- Each guest needs a cup, saucer, plate, spoon and napkin
Make sure you have a teapot, milk and sugar on a tray
Don't prepare water before guests arrive

Tea- an international symbol of friendship and hospitality

I had a birthday surprise tea recently for a couple of friends and God blessed us with a lovely morning.  It had rained most of the week but He gave us sunshine on that morning.  It was a glorious day. Sharing tea is such a joy for me.  It is entertainment enough for me.
You need play in your friendships.  It is renewing and refreshing.

What we owe our friends- Our loyalty, our love and our genuine concern for their well-being

Drink and eat your berries

Anthocyanins, the flavonids that give berries and wine their bright colors are good for your brain!  Those who ate or drank the most foods rich in anthocyanins were less likely to develop Parkinson's disease.  Stock up and freeze!

A week of blessings

As I sit here thinking about this past week I feel blessed.  We were able to visit our son in the Grand Tetons.  It was just beautiful there.  I felt God's presence each day.  We enjoyed camping and hiking with our son. I got to visit with many who work there from all over.  Retirees, college students and even in between.  I sipped on my tea each day and reflected all of God's beauty surrounding us.  I realized that I did just fine sipping on some tea, having some food, visiting with family and meeting new friends. God has shown me so much on this trip.  Our last evening out with family having pizza we met a wonderful Christian family.  They had two adopted children from Korea.  The father of this family had grown up in a missionary family in Japan.  He is a teacher now in Oregon but what was so wonderful is that he shared his faith.  He was evangelizing to others.  I know God put this family in our path for a reason.  Is not God good?  I had been reading a book titled Share Jesus Without Fear by William Fay during the week we were there.  I am so ready to get out there and share Jesus with others.  This person was an inspiration to me and God just put one more person in my path to see and hear from Him.  I shared my desire to share tea and Jesus with others.  I talked a bit about a tea retreat.  Thank you God for bringing this family to us on this trip. It was confirmation to continue on  and don't be afraid.  He is right beside you always.
I pray that as you continue on your journey of life getting to know Him you will become stronger and not be afraid.  Listen to Him.  See His beauty around you. Have that cup of tea.
